Life of tempered glass:

Physical tempering is to heat the glass and then quench it, which changes the structure between molecules in the glass; Chemical tempering is the ion exchange of the molecular structure on the glass surface at high temperature. Both methods permanently change the microstructure of glass materials. Therefore, unless there is high temperature and strengthening effect, the characteristics of tempering will not decay or change with time under normal use.

Life of insulating glass:

Insulating glass is a composite product consisting of glass substrate, spacer frame (aluminum strip), desiccant (molecular sieve) and sealing material (butyl rubber, polysulfide rubber or structural rubber). In the composition of insulating glass, glass and aluminum frame are usually very stable, and the life of insulating glass depends on the life of molecular sieve and sealing material.
In the composition of insulating glass system, glass is very stable, and the aging problem of glass substrate does not need to be considered under normal use; The aluminum bars recommended by standard hollow are all anodized on the surface. The physical and chemical properties of aluminum strip treated by surface anodizing are very stable under normal conditions. Even if the aluminum strip has not been anodized, oxidation will only make the aluminum strip lose its luster during use, but it has no great influence on the performance of the aluminum strip itself.
The value of insulating glass system construction is that insulating glass can play the role of heat insulation and sound insulation under the condition of closed and dry cavity. Due to the change of environmental temperature, the gas in the hollow cavity is always in the state of expansion or compression, which makes the hollow glass sealing system always in the state of stress. At the same time, ultraviolet rays, water and moisture in the environment will accelerate the aging of the sealing system, which will lead to the accelerated entry of water vapor into the hollow cavity. When a large amount of water vapor appears in the hollow glass cavity, the hollow glass has failed, and the failure of the hollow glass means the end of the service life of the hollow glass. To ensure that insulating glass does not fail, the key is desiccant and sealing material.

Life of Low-E glass:

The life of Low-E glass mainly depends on the life of its hollow sealing system. We know that the main materials of Low-E film are metal, alloy, metal oxide and metal nitride. Metal nitride is generally used as a protective layer in film structure, and its performance is very stable. Metal oxide and alloy layers are generally used as dielectric layers in the film to connect the silver layer and the protective layer, and their properties are relatively stable. The silver layer in Low-E is active, but its oxidation needs the presence of water vapor. Therefore, as long as the insulating glass does not fail, there is basically no need to consider the life of the Low-E film alone.

Life of laminated glass:

Laminated glass refers to a composite glass product in which one or more layers of organic polymer intermediate films are sandwiched between glasses, and the glass and the intermediate films are permanently bonded into a whole after technological treatment. Even if the laminated glass is broken, the fragments will stick to the film, which effectively prevents the fragments from being pricked and falling through.

The life of laminated glass mainly depends on the material of interlayer. Generally speaking, wet laminated glass and EVA laminated glass are mainly used for indoor partition, not for building doors, windows or curtain walls. Wet laminated glass will accelerate its aging under sunlight, and it will turn yellow after 1-2 years, and degumming bubbles, ice flakes and fogging will appear one after another after 2-3 years. Generally speaking, the aging speed of wet laminated glass is much faster than that of EVA laminated glass. EVA laminated glass can avoid direct sunlight and has a service life of more than 10 years when used indoors.

PVB and SGP laminated glass, which is usually used as doors, windows or curtain walls, has better aging resistance. The most typical failure of laminated glass PVB and SGP is to open the glue, which means that the glass is separated from the spacer and loses the safety characteristics of laminated glass. At present, there are no relevant standards and specifications about the life of PVB and SGP laminated glass in China. At present, domestic glass processing enterprises generally refer to the relevant materials of foreign PVB and SGP suppliers to give the product warranty period of 5-7 years.
