Glass curtain walls, as a modern form of building envelope, have gained widespread application globally due to their unique aesthetic appeal and functionality. However, the use of this material also comes with a set of advantages and disadvantages that warrant a thorough analysis.

On the positive side, the most striking feature of glass curtain walls is their high transparency, which provides buildings with an expansive view and ample natural lighting. This not only creates a bright and comfortable indoor environment but also visually expands the sense of space, enhancing the overall aesthetics of the building. For example, by adjusting the angle and position of the glass curtain walls, using low-reflective glass, or adding sunshades to the glass, light pollution can be minimized; double or triple glazing can improve sound insulation; and selecting glass materials that are easy to clean and maintain can reduce long-term maintenance costs. Through these measures, we can better utilize glass curtain walls to create modern buildings that are both visually appealing and practical.
